Conference of the Parties COP28
The AHF Delegation headed by MP Fadi Alame - the President, Mrs. Alice Boueiz - the CEO, Dr. Ali el Haj - Chairman of Governance, Leadership, and Research Division, and Dr. Bassam Kaddissi - Chairman of Healthcare Sustainability Division participated in the Conference of the Parties COP28 where it engaged in several panel discussions focused on healthcare sustainability. The most important was the session organized by the Ministry of Health and Prevention in the United Arab Emirates and the World Health Organization, under the theme 'Reimagining Healthcare Sustainability.' Dr. Bassam Kaddissi presented his perspective on the subject, which encompassed the promotion of innovative practices, embracing technology, and emphasizing a comprehensive approach to addressing climate change. The discussions also delved into the challenges facing healthcare systems, health ministries, and hospitals in achieving a sustainable healthcare system, along with other topics related to climate change. The debates involved the participation of a group of global and regional experts.
This session was remarkable as it included four Arab health ministers from Egypt, Tunisia, Jordan, and Lebanon, who shared their experiences in this context. This reflected our steadfast Arab commitment to building a sustainable and flexible healthcare system in response to climate challenges.
The AHF delegation also participated in numerous discussions organized by various entities, such as the Department of Health Abu Dhabi, the US Council, and others.
